Kookateki at Charity Martial Arts Seminar
Sunday 20th March saw our Assistant Club coach Harry take part in a Charity Martial Arts Seminar organised by Shinsiei Ju Jujitsu Club in Bangor.
The Seminar held in Bangor Academy was in aid of Motor Neurone Disease Association with over 300 participants from different martial arts ranging from traditional Jujitsu , Shodokan Karate, Tae Jitsu, Krav Maga and Iaido (Japanese swordsmanship). The ages of participants ranged from 4 to over 50 on the day.
The event was an opportunity for the various martial artists present to try different disciplines and for the coaches/instructors present to share their knowledge in small group sessions.
Harry assisted by Miles Browning (a regular visitor to Kookateki ) were asked to undertake a display of various judo techniques to the whole seminar which gave them the opportunity to show off some of the more dynamic judo throws – this went down well with those taking part on the day.
Harry said “it was an honour to represent Kookateki at a such an amazing event, and to see such enthusiasm from all those who took part, I would like to thank Miles for being a great Uke and to Sensei Stephen Black for inviting Kookateki to the seminar.
Hopefully we can do it again next year!”
